Frequently Asked Audio Visual Questions
Is it possible to mount a Plasma or LCD TV on a plaster board wall?
The simple answer is - yes.
However it can be a precarious undertaking and you will need the correct type of bracket and fixings. We have experience of mounting many LCD TVs and plasma TVs to plasterboard. And of course we are fully insured - so why take the risk yourself?
Do I need an electrical socket behind screen?
Not usually.
But we can install one if you need to. Usually, we can connect a cable through the wall to another socket or hide the cable with a covering.
Is it possible to mount a flatscreen TV above a working fireplace?
Mostly Yes.
If your fireplace has a mantle piece it will deflect the heat away from the screen. If you have a gas effect fire, most of the heat goes up the chimney, so this is not a problem. Sometimes, if you have a very hot, real fire (unusual in London) it may warm the chimney to the extent that it is not advisable to mount a televsion there.
I want to mount the TV on a brick wall. Can you hide the wires?
Yes. And it depends on your budget here.
1. On a chimney breast we can drill through chimney breast and through the side and feed the cables through the holes. (Medium pricing)
2. In a solid brick wall we can chase the wall or cut a grove into it, place the wiring inside and then plaster over it, paint and decorate. (Expensive option)
3. The cheapest method is to run surface cable and cover it with trunking. (Cheapest option)
How can you hide wires in a plasterboard wall?
This is much easier than a brick wall. We punch a hole into the plasterboard to pull the cables through and fill the hole afterwards.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes. We guarantee our installation work for 2 years. In the unlikely event of a catastrophic failure - such as your TV falling off the wall - we will replace the equipment and repair any damage caused. We do not include any parts you have supplied yourself as part of the installation guarantee. Are you fully insured?
Yes. We have public liability insurance and are fully insured up to £2,000,000.
Do you carry leads and wall brackets?
Yes.
We carry a wide range of brackets and leads to enable us to install pretty much any standard installation.
Can I paint my satellite dish?
Yes. You can paint the entire dish any colour you wish, including the LNB and cable. Use the thinnest coat possible. Don't paint the LNB cap which faces the dish.
Although white is a nice colour if your building is white, it reflects the sunlight too efficiently. In countries where sunshine is strong and continuous you should paint the dish a dark colour with matt (not gloss) paint. If the dish concentrates sunlight on the LNB cap, it will melt.
